Licensed Associate Counselor
Jeanne Cahill, LACMH
Jeanne Cahill is a Licensed Associate Counselor of Mental Health (LACMH) in the state of Delaware, a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA). She earned both her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Wilmington University.
Jeanne’s path into counseling grew from a series of transforming midlife experiences that deepened her understanding of healing, resilience, and the human spirit. These moments inspired her to pursue a profession where she could offer others the compassionate support she once needed herself. She brings empathy, presence, and a belief in each person’s inner wisdom to every session.
Her approach is grounded in humanistic and person-centered principles, honoring each client as inherently whole, worthy, and capable of growth. Jeanne believes therapy is a collaborative, conscious space where clients can reconnect with their authentic selves and explore their values, emotions, and life experiences with curiosity and compassion.
Jeanne integrates several evidence-based modalities, tailored to the needs of the individual:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and to challenge patterns that no longer serve them.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and improving interpersonal relationship.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients recognize that they are not defined by their thoughts, and to understand patterns of avoidance that may limit their lives.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients acknowledge, understand, and accept the different inner “parts” that have developed to keep them safe.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients identify, name, and understand their emotional experiences.
Jeanne is trauma-informed and provides a grounded presence for clients processing grief or navigating significant life transitions. She enjoys working with adults of all ages and teenagers, as well as working with couples seeking deeper connection and understanding.
She lives on the eastern shore of Maryland with her husband, Tom, and goldendoodle, Murphy, who sometimes helps out in therapy sessions.
